Major Activities
(In brief)
:
  • Every year Guru Pournima is celebrated as per Indian Tradition.
  • Teachers Day is also celebrated every year, students work as a teacher on this day and Prizes are awarded to best student teachers of every class.
  • Every year there is a Prabhat Pheri to Commemorate the birth anniversary of late Principal K M Kundnani.
  • Essay competitions are a regular feature.
  • Workshop on Elocution and Debating skills for the students, was conducted by Mr. Joy Fernandes in 2005-06.
  • Arranged ‘Best of the Best’ for the Inaugral function of National Youth Leadership Training Programme.
  • Organizes a Bhajan Prabhat on 2nd of January every year to mark the Foundation Day of the College.
  • Presented a Cultural Programme at Sub – Divisional Magistrate’s office on the eve of Republic Day.
  • The Arts Forum also helped in the survey undertaken by the students of Union College at Dharavi, which was a part of their study in the 13th International Economics Convention hasted by our college. The forum actively assisted in the preparations for the 13th Economics Convention.
  • The forum arranges Screenings of critically acclaimed movies like “Jungle All The Way”, “Shwaas”, “Lakshaya”, “Parevary”, (a Sindhi Movie), “Devarai”, a film on Schizophrenia and so on.
  • The forum organized a Quiz Competition in the college and also conducted a programme “Preet Gaan” to raise funds for Tsunami victims.
  • An Inter Collegiate Elocution Competition was organized by History Department.
  • A workshop was conducted by Malini Shah on Pre Marital Counseling.
  • A Multilingual Poetry Recitation Competition was organized by English Department.
    Workshop was conducted on Art Of Sindhi Theatre by actor Madan Jumani.
  • Inter Collegiate Workshop on “KAIZEN” was organized for T.Y.B.A students in 2008-09.
  • Inter Collegiate Workshop on Elocution Skills in Marathi was organised in 2008-09.
  • Career Guidance Lectures were organized.

  • College won 13 Prizes at Inter Collegiate Kiran Festival Organized by KC College, Churchgat, Mumbai, (2006-07).

  • College won 3 prizes at Inter Collegiate Jallosh organized by K J Somiya College (2005-06).
  • College won 1st and 3rd prize at InterCollegiate Singing Competition organized by Ruia College, Charni Road, Mumbai (2006-07) and an Overall Championship trophy.

Youth Festival

  • Silver Medal at University Level Competition won, who won Gold Medal at Zonal State and National level for Mimicry – 2006 representing University of Mumbai.
  • College won Gold Medal Poetry Reciting Competition in Inter Collegiate Youth Festival, 2005-06.
  • Three students were selected to represent University of Mumbai in Cultural Competitions at State, Zonal and National levels.
  • College bagged Silver Medal in Debate and Elocution Competition, Bronze Medal in Western Group Songs (2007-08).
  • Won Indradhanushaya State Level Inter University Cultural Competitions, West Zone Competition and Overall National Championship in Cultural activities. These students played an important role in it (2007-08).
  • College students participated in BOOGIE WOOGIE Dance Competition on SET Channel and won it in 2004,05,06.
  • College was invited to participate in Opening Programme of Channel “ME Marathi” – De Dhanadan. College was winner of the said Inter Collegiate Competition – 2006.
  • College was invited on E- TV Marathi Channel to participate in Dance Competition in ‘Full to Dhammal’ – 2006.
  • College non teaching staff won first prize in Inter Collegiate Cultural Competition where 200 colleges participated in 2005

CONCEPT NOTE

The ARTS FORUM is the Cultural hub of the college. It provides a platform to the students to give expressions to their talents in performing arts like music, dance, cinema and creative literature and polish their presentation and performance skills. The forum has evolved through the years an reinvented itself as the Arts Circle and then the Arts Forum. Formed after the merger of various Literary Associations – English Literary Association, Hindi Sahitya Parishad, Marathi Vangmaya Mandal and the Arts Circle, it has extended its scope and acquired a more cosmopolitan outlook and a much broader base.
