‘Clean Ulhasnagar-Healthy Ulhasnagar’
This massive awareness survey project and campaign was undertaken by the Foundation course and EVS students of the college in 2008-2009 in the city of Ulhasnagar. The survey was conducted on 26th and 28th July 2008. In spite of heavy rains on both the days 3000 students surveyed 30,000 households. The survey was on issues of health, hygiene, sanitation, water supply, disposal of wastes, drainage system, sewerage system, garbage collection, awareness of prevalent diseases and their remedies. Exhaustive Awareness literature was also circulated among the citizens which included information about the various services of the corporation and the measures for disaster management.

The Interim report of Clean Ulhasnagar-Healthy Ulhasnagar was presented to Mr. Sameer Unhale, Commissioner, UMC, by the then Vice Chancellor of the University of Mumbai, Dr Vijay Khole, in an impressive academic gathering in the Foreground of the College. A follow up survey to study the impact of the first survey and to assess whether the suggestions made in the Interim Report were followed up by the UMC was undertaken in December 2008. The Final Report of the Survey Study Project has been subsequently submitted to the Commissioner of UMC.

‘Education for All’
The next survey project was conducted in the same academic year on 9th and 13th March 2009. The survey included pre-survey visit of municipal schools of Ulhasnagar to get data from the Principals about their infrastructure, dropouts and other schemes under ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan’. On the days of the survey students interviewed municipal school students and their parents to assess the problem of dropouts and measures to control it. This would give the corporation a better idea as to the reasons for dropouts and they can take effective measures to increase literacy and education among the marginalized sections of society. The parents were also given detailed awareness literature about municipal schools and educational services apart from other services of the corporation.

In this academic year as well follow up survey was conducted to assess the change since last years survey in Ulhasnagar city. The survey was conducted on 27th and 29th August 2009. 3198 Students surveyed 38376 Families. The survey looked at all the parameters of health, hygiene, water supply and disposal, waste management, education, property data, population data, citizens facilitation centers, fire departments, and public works departments.
Students prepared comprehensive reports for all the surveys.
