Milind Vaidya (b 19th
Aug. 1960), has taken over as the In-Charge Principal of the
College after a very successful run as the Vice Principal for
eight years, during which period he was called upon to function
as the In Charge Principal in the absence of the then Principal
on a number of occasions.
Milind Vaidya has been instrumental in administration in almost
every section. He has monitored the academic progress of the
Departments, Admissions to various classes, Examinations, International
Exchange programmes, Research activities, infrastructure, Time
table, Purchases, university examinations and been the Co-ordinator
for B.Sc.Information Technology since the inception of the course
(July 2001) by University of Mumbai etc. to name a few. His
has contributed immensely in the establishment of 03 new institutes
on the Campus in Principal Dinesh Panjwani’s tenure.
A worthy alumnus of the College, Milind Vaidya began his academic
career at Smt. CHM College, Ulhasnagar as a Lecturer in Junior
College, in the Department of Physics in 1982 and from 1983,
lecturer in Degree College. He became Reader designate in Physics
Dept. in August 1996 and was working as the Vice Principal from
4th Sept 2001 to 31st Aug. 2009. Milind Vaidya has established
the research laboratory in the Physics Department and some of
the instruments were procured as donations from TIFR. Other
equipment were procured mainly by way of funding received from
various schemes of Minor research projects, from UGC, and the
University. He has actively participated and shouldered responsibilities
in various Outreach-and-Community-oriented programmes, that
the College organizes in coordination with UGC-sponsored Women’s
Studies Centre and the Gandhian Studies Centre of the College
and has been instrumental in their success. He has been appointed
as the vice Chancellor’s nominee as Subject Expert in
Physics in various Colleges.
A first Class graduate of the University of Mumbai, Milind Vaidya
completed his M Sc and Ph D with the University of Mumbai. His
interest in research resulted in the presentation and publication
of research papers at National and International platforms.
He has presented 03 research papers at the International level
(Australia, France, India) in International Conferences and
more than 15 research papers were presented at various Symposiums
held at Nagpur, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Bilaspur, Cochin, Tirupati,
IGCAR-Kalppakkam, Kurukshetra, Mysore, Pune, Pantnagar-Nainital.
He visited the Clayton State University, Atlanta, GA, U.S.,
under the Faculty Exchange Program in Nov. 2005. Many of his
research papers have been cited by scholars working in the field.
Milind Vaidya has completed 04 minor research projects funded
by the UGC. He is recognised as Research Guide in Physics by
the University of Mumbai and currently two students have enrolled
under his supervision for whom the registration process is in
progress. He has established collaborative linkage with Physics
Of Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar and Charotar Institute of
Applied Sciences, Changa, Dist. Anand, Gujarat and presented
a Research Paper at the International Conference on Application
of Mössbauer Effect (ICAME) held in Monash University,
Melbourne, Australia in August 1987.
Milind Vaidya, for a brief period, has been the Principal of
Vikas College, Vikhroli and he has taken over as the In-Charge
Principal of this College on 1st September 2009.
