The first meeting of the committee for the academic year took place on 2.8.2010 with Principal Dr Bhavna Motwani as the Convenor. The Chairperson Dr Saraswati Patel updated the Principal Dr Bhavna Motwani about the various activities of PG&RD Committee.
It was decided to have a slot for research presentation by teachers. This would encourage more teachers to participate. The time slot for presentations was identified as 11:28 – 12:16 am once every/ two months.
PGRD committee has decided to publish College Research journal every year from the current academic year. Urmila Pillay and Dr Pratima Das would be in charge of the same. The first issue will be published in the first quarter of 2011 and subsequent issues would be released in January every year.
This year our college hosted “Avishkar”, A Mumbai University Research Festival at the Zonal Level and also participated in it.. Prof Nitin Arekar was the coordinator for “Avishkar” at University level. A core working committee at the college level was formed. Dr Sharada Vaidya, Dr Deepa Misra and Dr Lalli Rajan were part of the committee and Dr Sharada Vaidya was the college coordinator for the above festival.
There were 15 teams participating from the college; Out of these seven teams were selected for the University Level competition. Three teams were further selected to represent Mumbai University at the State level..
A core working committee of PGRD was formed of Dr Aruna Rai, Dr. Sunanda Karandikar, Dr. Bela Nabar, Dr. Sheela Ahuja, Asha Manglani, Dr Bhuvaneshwari K., Dr. Sucheta Gokhale and Prof Neelam Parab. The committee hopes to take up different isues regarding research and also make our college a dynamic research institution. The core committee is meant to be compact and would meet once in two months. The entire committee would meet once in a year.
The PGRD committee Chairperson and the members throughout the year motivated and helped the teachers in application for research funds and also in preparation of other documents. In the current year 8 teachers were awarded University Of Mumbai research project Fund and 1 teacher Dr Milind Vaidya was recipient of UGC Major Research Fund.
The PGRD committee assisted English department in documentation for continuation of recognition of English research laboratory.
The PGRD committee would be streamlining Ph.D admissions from 2011 onwards as per the rules laid by University of Mumbai. |
