Phase I : Initiation and Awareness Generation (2005 to 2006)

Highlights :

Three phase Seminar and Workshops on “The Relevance of Gandhian political legacy among the modern University Youth” – a year long initiative with the Colleges of the University of Mumbai which led to the formation of Gandhian Study Forums in all the colleges of the University of Mumbai. Community Oriented programmes like Bhajan Sandhya, Bhajan Prabhat, Cycle rallies, Lecture series on socially relevant issues relating them to Gandhian Thought and Practice, Chandi Utsav, Diwali Utsav at Shantivan Ashram, Panvel, Celebrations of Republic Day with community.

   
Phase II : Expansion (2006 to 2008)

Highlights:

Series of theme based Workshops for sensitive community groups, like Police personnel, journalists, elected representatives of Local Self Government units, Adult Education Group of the Women’s Studies Centre, NSS volunteers, Teachers of the Colleges of the University of Mumbai, NCC Cadets and members of the Students’ Council. Lecture series for the Adult education Group of women school drop-outs

International conference on “Empowerment of Women through Adult education with three subthemes of Gandhian Thought in which 09 papers were presented by scholars from India and abroad.

Initiation of Human Rights Week with the theme of  “Pathways to Empowerment” (2007),  “Victories of Peace” (2008) and  “Commemoration of the Centenary of Gandhiji’s Hind Swaraj” (2009)

Highlights:

“Unity in Diversity” a Skit on the Life, times and ideas of Gandhiji presented at the Convocation Hall  and subsequently at the American Information resource Centre, Mumbai,  on their request, on the occasion of the visit of Martin Luther King (Jr)

Workshops on Gandhian Thought and Writing Skills
Workshops on Folk Theatre on health and hygiene in collaboration with the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation
A weeklong Sneha Sammelan, “Spandan” for the Adult Education Group of the AEP of the WSC on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Dr Charanjeet Kaur has been awarded an Associateship in  2009,  at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla,  for a research Project on  Hind Swaraj in the context of Globalisation under the Inter University Research Plan of the UGC .
